About Fortuna Domus

Modern architecture, made for the water

We design and build floating houses that feel like a true home — calm, bright and precisely made — and deliver them to lakes, rivers and marinas across Europe.

Our story

Why Fortuna Domus exists

Fortuna Domus began with a simple question: why should living on the water mean compromising on architecture? Too many floating homes felt like boats with a few rooms added, or like temporary cabins with a view. We wanted to bring the clarity of modern architecture — clean lines, generous glazing, honest materials — onto the water.

That is why we design every house from the platform up as one system. Structure, insulation, glazing and technical installations are planned together, so the house is not only beautiful on the first day, but comfortable, robust and easy to look after for many years.

We build in the tradition of European craftsmanship: carefully chosen materials, precise joinery and people who take pride in the details. And because our houses are produced in controlled factory conditions rather than on an exposed site, quality stays consistent and build times stay predictable.

Life is better on water

Mission & values

What we stand for

Our mission is to make life on the water simple, beautiful and sustainable — with houses that are designed with care, built to last and delivered with complete transparency.

  • Quality without shortcuts

Selected materials, precise workmanship and quality checks at every stage of production — because a house on the water has to be better built, not just better looking.

  • Sustainable by design

Efficient building envelopes, optional solar power and a light footprint on the water and the shore. Good design uses less energy for decades.

  • Transparent from the first call

Clear specifications, itemised proposals and honest answers about permits, timelines and running costs — before you commit to anything.

  • Personal service

A personal point of contact who guides you from the first idea to handover — and stays available for your questions afterwards.

How we build

Crafted in the workshop, completed on the water

Building in controlled conditions means better quality, fewer surprises and far less disruption at your location.

  1. Assembling a two-storey house on its floating platform

    Materials chosen to last

Durable, moisture-resistant materials for platform, structure and facade — selected for a life on the water, not only for the first impression.

  2. The timber structure rising on the platform, with scaffolding in place

    Factory-controlled production

Walls, roof and interiors are built in a dry, controlled environment by an experienced team — independent of weather and season.

  3. Facade panels and glazing being fitted on the water

    Quality checks at every stage

Structure, insulation, installations and finishes are inspected before the next stage begins, and once more before handover.

  4. Final works on the terrace and roof before handover

    Transport & on-site installation

We plan the route, transport your house and install it at its new home — mooring and connections are prepared together with local partners where needed.

The process

From first conversation to your first evening on the water

Five clear steps and one point of contact. You always know what happens next.

  1. Step 1

    Consultation

We listen first: where will the house float, how will you use it and what matters most to you? Models, location and budget — without obligation.

  2. Step 2

    Design & quote

You receive a tailored proposal with layout, facade, equipment, price and delivery time. We refine it together until it fits.

  3. Step 3

    Production

Once you confirm, your house is built in controlled conditions. We keep you informed at every milestone.

  4. Step 4

    Delivery & installation

We transport the house to your location, position and moor it, and complete the installation — ready for handover.

  5. Step 5

    Aftercare

After handover we remain your contact for questions, maintenance advice, service and future upgrades.

Build time depends on the model — from 14 to 28 weeks — plus transport and installation.

Where our houses can go

Calm water, anywhere in Europe

Our houses are designed for sheltered waters. Before anything is built, we check the location, transport access and the local rules together with you.

  1. Lakes

Natural lakes and reservoirs with stable water levels — the classic setting for a floating home.

  2. Rivers & canals

Calm stretches of rivers and canals, with mooring designed for current and changing water levels.

  3. Marinas

Serviced berths with access to utilities — ideal for holiday homes and rental units.

  4. Sheltered coastal bays

Protected bays and harbours where wind and waves are limited. Exposed open-sea locations are not suitable.

Delivery across Europe — every location is assessed individually.
